Dear Mr/Mrs,

I found your blog through a friend that was living in Paris, and I got very excited with the vegetable that you posted on “the kale project”! My name is Rosa and I am originally Portuguese, but I am now living in Paris.working on my postdoctoral research. I absolutely love that vegetable! It is used a lot in Portuguese culinary and we call it Grelo, or grelos in the plural. It is part of traditional Christmas dishes and I really miss it a lot in Paris, as I have not been able to find it anywhere! I will definitely look for the little shop where you found it and, if you need some inspiration about what to do with it, I can share some of my favorites!

Hope you keep this nice blog! It inspires me a lot!

That sounds delicious. Especially when the novelty of spring radishes are waning (and would be especially beautiful with the watermelon radishes that intermittently come your way, right??)

researchingsandiego – Ah, the lettuce problem. One can only eat so many salads. I’ve found that lettuce leaves are great for lining the steamer basket when you’re making Chinese dumplings.

Tammy – I don’t know burdock root. What’s it like?

Nice. Thanks for the tip – am getting a little tired of ‘kitchen sink’ salads – transitioning to currys to clean out the crisper sounds like a welcome change… Although what to do with the excessive lettuce… need to make a friend with a rabbit
