This Week’s Harvest, 7/21

July 21, 2010

Carrots, parsley, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, green beans, eggs

I have plans for this week’s vegetables.  I really missed getting my panier last week, so I’ve really been looking forward to getting my vegetables again.  (Which is not to say I didn’t buy or eat any last week, it just turns out I love not having to make choices or decisions when it comes to purchasing produce.)

The gorgeous, slim green beans are going to star in a simple dinner salad tonight.  They’ll be steamed, tossed with vinaigrette, parsley, and ham, and topped with nuts.  The recipe is courtesy of Clotilde, whose book, every time I open it, makes me wish I did so more often.

There’s another Indian feast in the works, and I’ve bookmarked a few more of Mallika‘s fantastic recipes to highlight my panier‘s offerings: a potato sauté with nigella seeds, and an Indian-spiced bean salad with tomatoes and cucumbers.

Carrot sticks are the perfect snack on hot afternoons, especially when my vacation is coming up!  (There is bound to be at least one event requiring a swimsuit…)

I also love beans like that and our season hasn’t quite hit yet. Please do post on the Indian feast when you do it.

Tammy – Green beans are one of my favorite vegetables! So tasty, and I always feel healthy after eating them. 🙂
