This Week’s Harvest, 10/27
It’s the leeks’ first appearance of the season! I’m excited because there are potatoes, too, and I’ve got tartiflette on the brain. Except I don’t have any bacon (gasp!), so I’ll be using sausage instead. And I have some cauliflower left over from last week, so I’m probably going to sneak that in there, too. And instead of Reblochon, I’ll be using another smelly Savoyard cheese, Morbier. But I’m still pretty sure it’s going to be awesome. Don’t worry, we’ll have a salad with it.
Is it ok if I’m getting kind of irritated with the radishes? There’s only so much you can do with them, and they’re great snacking when it’s warm out, but it is decidedly not warm out these days. Enough already!
The appearance of fennel, however bizarrely elongated it may be, makes me very happy. What should I make? Pasta sauce? Focaccia? Braised chicken? Something with seafood? Decisions, decisions.
What’s left? Apples and eggs. Sounds like I’ll be baking something. Apple tatin cake, maybe, or possibly crêpes.
